In post-production limiter was used only for limiting occasional
microphone wind noise. Some clips with the sounds of planes flying over
or flying close were cut out of the video. Also lot of clips where
hikers walked past the camera, chatting, were cut out of the video.
Filming location was actually close to the path at Raven trail
(Korpinkierros) which is a popular hiking trail at Nuuksio National
Park.
The Rajakallio nature reserve is located at the end of the Raven trail
in Nuuksio National Park. The area is a fairly high rocky hill with
many deadwoods on top. As its name suggests, there are lot of ravens in
the area and I saw many ravens flying over the area as the sun set.
When I arrived at the area on a summer evening, I also saw a couple of
deers, one of which I managed to capture on video.
The video features a steady summery hum of wind, occasional sounds of
ravens, crows, insects and waterfowl from a distant lake.

had sounds of motor cycles or cars were cut out of the video. There is
a road some kilometers away from the location. Airplanes from
Helsinki-Vantaa airport fly over the Nuuksio National Park.
On a September day in 2019, we went to Nuuksio National Park, in the
northern Kattila area, with intern Zhang to record Videoworks
Finland’s first Sound of Nature videos. I left Zhang to
record
this video on a hill covered with trees on the shore of a small lake
Vähä Holma and went some kilometers further to record
another
Sound of Nature video myself: Sound of Nature: Silent Autumn Forest -
Vähä Saarilampi Nuuksio. The autumn forest is quite
quiet,
but in this video, birdsong, insect sounds and the tapping of a
white-backed woodpecker can be heard from time to time . The lake is
windier and for this reason we placed the camera to record a little
further from the lake shore, on top of a hill. The hum of the wind from
the forests near the shore is clearly audible. There is a soft clatter
heard occasionally in the video. The sound is created when the wind
blows the camera lens cover against the tripod. Enjoy the soundscape!

Post-production sound software was used mainly for limiting occasional
microphone wind noise. A lot of clips with the sounds of planes flying
over or flying close were cut out of the video. Airplanes from
Helsinki-Vantaa airport fly over the Nuuksio National Park. Because it
is autumn, September, there is almost no birdsong. Instead, the sounds
of flying insects are sometimes heard. At some point, an insect had
settled for a long time on the wind shield of the microphone and made
some noise there. At the end of the video, you can hear a few times, as
if branches are crashing from the forest. These sounds were caused by
black woodpecker that came into a tree near the shooting location, on
the other side of the camera, and went through the tree. This is the
first audio-video production of Videoworks Finland's Sound of Nature
series. Enjoy the ambient sound sphere!
